Lets talk about dates

I have had the pleasure of eating that delicious fruit called dates. No one is sure about its origin but it is believed to be from around Iraq. It looks good, tastes sweet and it has amazing health benefits. It helps with constipation, relieves blood pressure, treats anemia, stabilizes the nervous system and so on.

The benefits are numerous. Dates are loaded with fiber. Fiber is known for its ability to help lower cholesterol and fight and prevent obesity, heart disease and colorectal cancer.
Dates are an excellent source or minerals, with potassium in the No. 1 spot. Copper, manganese, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous, iron and zinc complete the mineral profile. The body only needs small amounts of minerals, but if it is depleted of anyone, it can be disastrous to your health. Snacking on dates can help you build up your body's mineral stores.

The dates are affordable and it is a given for those trying to lose weight. Eating 10 gms of dates would provide 23 calories with lots of fiber along. It is fattening if you don't check the portion and eat more than required as in the case of other foods also. But people who have sugar problems especially those with Type 2 diabetes should avoid eating dates as it is not good for their health.

Dates Won't Raise Blood Sugar. ... A scientific study shows that while dates contain high amounts of natural sugars, they are actually a low-glycemic index food and did not significantly raise blood sugar levels after they were eaten.

Best way to consume dates
Wash properly to remove all impurities, adding a pinch of salt to the water is always good to reduce microbial surface content.
You can soak dates in water overnight and consume them soft,
Some people drink the water that dates have been soaked in as it serves as a great tonic and works better than some traditional medicine.

Your Choice!! But whatever you decide, grab some dates next time you go to the food mall.
Your body will certainly thank you for it.😊😊😊😊
