Most Common Nutritional Deficiencies and effects

Nutrition as we all know is the mainstay of our lives. So important, it determines a whole lot other factors like how healthy our skin and hair looks, how well our brains or bodies function and sometimes how happy or miserable we feel.

According to Research, here are the 7 most common nutritional deficiencies :
Iron Deficiency....
Iodine Deficiency. ...
Vitamin D Deficiency. ...
Vitamin B12 Deficiency. ...
Calcium Deficiency. ...
Vitamin A Deficiency. ...
Magnesium Deficiency.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), iron deficiency is the most common and widely spread nutritional disorder in the world. Most alarmingly it's the only nutritional deficiency prevalent in both developing and developed countries where a whopping 30% of the world's population is iron deficient.

Most likely Preschool children are prone to iron deficiency  unless they are given iron-rich or iron food.Young pregnant women along with some menstruating women may suffer from this deficiency. The most common disease that arises from a lack of iron is anemia. The sufferer is likely to experience tiredness, weakness, weakened immune system and impaired brain function.
Sounds really scary right? I would advise to start incorporating dietary sources of non heme and heme iron such as red meat, liver, beans, shellfish, canned fish etc.into our meals.

Other diseases can be caused by nutritional deficiencies listed above are:
Kwashiokor
Rickets
Scurvy
Beriberi,
Night Blindness
Osteroporosis
Pellagra
Goitre and even
Depression...Yes I said it. Depression

Problems of Depression, hair loss, rashes and mental issues are caused by the deficiency of Vitamin B7 or biotin. This deficiency can be fatal if present in an aggravated form. Consume poultry products, dairy items, peanuts, nuts etc that are rich sources of biotin. These must be consumed along with supplements to recover and prevent these illnesses.

The general mantra that should keep rolling in our minds is to to Eat Wholesome and Eat Well and  you can get to live a relatively healthy life.
