How do I prevent obesity / Overweight?

Obesity is a condition where a person has accumulated so much body fat that it might have a negative effect on their health.

The use of Body Mass Index (BMI) is a good quantifier for measuring your body weight from your height and weight. If a person's body weight is at least 20% higher than it should be, he or she is considered obese. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is between 25 and 29.9 you are considered overweight. If your BMI is 30 or over you are considered obese.

So Why do people Become Obese?

The picture above sums it up:
An indulgent and sedentary lifestyle.
Consuming too much calories but that is not just ALL!

It is a known Scientific fact that genetics play a role in obesity. Genes can directly cause obesity in disorders such as Bardet-Biedl syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Disheartening yea, but the fact is that genes do not always predict future health. Genes and behavior are both needed for a person to be overweight.

To sum it up, having a sedentary lifestyle....we take the car everywhere even a mile away, consume fast foods and sugary food all the time while sitting in front of a TV or on a mobile all day  can make us obese.

Yes, everyone of us can become obese at one time or the other if we are not cautious!!

Hmm..Food for Thought!!
