Sleep and Beauty?

Are these two Related?

It is a given Yes !

The answer is simple enough, because the more zzz's you get each night, the less your body produces the stress hormone called Cortisol. Elevated levels of cortisol can lead to increased stress and inflammation  in the body  and so your skin looks poorly...

Ouch who wants that really!

Experts and Researchers have found that a vicious cycle exists between lack of  sleep and skin problems such as dermatitis and acne. The less sleep you get, the more likely you get inflammatory skin conditions like acne or psoriasis due to increased stress hormones. And the itching might prevent you from sleeping which also worsens when you do not get enough sleep and thus the vicious cycle.

In contrast, skin conditions and sleep quality can also improve together. Getting a good night's sleep will help to clear up skin, which allows sleep to improve and, in turn, will improve skin health."

Interesting really, that is not only why you should be catching enough sleep each night. Here are more compelling reasons:

  • Not having enough sleep can lead to puffy eyes in the morning as well as dry skin and wrinkles.
  • Getting enough sleep slows down ageing..it is pure Science
  • Not enough sleep contributes to weight gain as you feel less hungry the more you sleep.
Here are tips for getting good sleep and better skin health:

Don't eat a big meal too late in the day.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but not late at night.
Sleep under a warm blanket in a cool, dark, quiet room.
Use breathable cotton sheets and wash them regularly, so they don't collect dust mites and bacteria.
Use laundry detergents that don't have strong fragrances, which can be irritating to skin.

So Remember, Getting your beauty sleep isn’t an old cliché — it’s a must for having skin that glows
