Why is Organic foods a better choice?

There are many claims that organic foods are better than conventionally grown food produce but
there is not sufficient evidence in medical literature to support claims that organic food is safer or healthier than conventionally grown food.

While there may be some differences in the nutrient and anti nutrient contents of organically- and conventionally-produced food, the variable nature of food production and handling makes it difficult to generalize result.  Ouch !!

But there is  an overall truth about organic foods and that is while people are gearing toward purchasing and consuming only organically grown produce and maybe you should!!.

The reasons are:
  • They taste better as no preservatives are added unlike the conventional food produce.
  • They have less pesticides in / or on them as less toxic pesticides are used in organic farming..this is certainly healthier for cancer-prone persons, pregnant women and  young children with developing immune system.
  • They are usually fresher and more better looking than the conventionally produced foods.
  • They are GMOS free....no genetic modification. Great!!
  • Researchers have long  concluded that organic meat and milk are richer in nutrients!
Organic foods can be rather costly especially the organically grown meat and animal products like eggs and most people can not afford all organic food choices.

Here is a list compiled by Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that analyzes the results of government pesticide testing in the U.S., the following fruits and vegetables have the highest pesticide levels so are best to buy organic.

They are Apples, Sweet Bell Peppers, Cucumbers, Celery, Potatoes, Grapes, Cherry, Tomatoes,  Kale/Collard, Greens.Summer Squash, Nectarines (imported), Peaches, Spinach, Strawberries, Hot Peppers

Fruits and vegetables you don't need to buy organic

Known as the “Clean 15”, these conventionally-grown fruits and vegetables are generally low in pesticides. They are Asparagus, Avocado, Mushrooms, Cabbage, Sweet Corn, Eggplant
Kiwi, Mango, Onion, Papaya, Pineapple, Sweet Peas (frozen), Sweet Potatoes, Grapefruit, Cantaloupe

Interestingly really !!

One thing for sure is that if you have very deep pockets, Organic foods is the way to go!!
Better still organic farming is really good for the Earth as a whole, so like they say Let's go Organic!!!!
